Impossible Dreams
So I got myself all pumped up about going back to raiding after my week off, with a little "rah rah for the guild" pep talk... Overall it was a pretty decent raid - we made decent Lich King attempts and the teenage boys who generally annoy me weren't overly annoying. Two people chatted with me a bit in whispers. But still, I found myself feeling disappointed. Two hours into the raid, the only thing anyone had said to me in vent was "What's the deal with Kalinia?" (my enhance shaman husband) And as much as I appreciated getting tells from two friends, I yearned for more social interaction. Maybe it's completely selfish of me, but I was hoping that more people would say "hey Fungi, glad you're back." That's one of the aspects I really miss about being the guild I founded: that everyone knew who I was, and most of them seemed to like me. When I mentioned to someone during the raid last week that they hadn't said anything to me other than asking about my husband, they replied that they hadn't said anything to the other 24 people either. Great, so I'm just a number on the roster... Is it too much to ask to have a guild with solid, skilled players who make steady progression, and still feel like an integral member of the team? I know I'm needed as a tank right now, but it's nice to feel appreciated as a person. Is it just an impossible dream to find a group that's as rewarding socially as it is with progression?

Back in Action
I have been so swamped at work and by family changes that I haven't had time to even play WoW the past two weeks, much less write blog posts about it. Leading field trips with 60-120 students per day takes a lot of energy! Filling all my home time with playing WoW was destroying my sanity. Taking some time off really let me get productive at home, and part of me wants to wash my hands of the game completely... but loyalty to my guild and desire to see the Lich King dead win out. I want to be a valuable asset for my guild and revel in success after I've put so much time already towards the LK fight. Now that I've had two weeks off, I'm going to try to make time just for raiding, without spending too much time on the massive time-eating side projects, like Loremaster and reputation grinding. I'm back in action with the sole mission of helping my guildmates (and myself!) earn 25-man Kingslayer titles.
